Zoho links its office suite with Google Drive

Zoho has integrated its cloud-hosted office productivity applications with the Google Drive online storage service, Zoho said in a blog post.

The integration lets Google Drive users open their files using the Zoho Office applications Zoho Writer, Zoho Sheet and Zoho Show -- word processor, spreadsheet and presentation creation applications, respectively.

Users can also edit the documents and save them back to Google Drive. It's also possible to create brand new documents with the Zoho applications and store them in Google Drive. Users can also collaboratively edit documents. Read more...

What to consider before signing up for Google Drive

Just as with an Apple product launch, Google has had to do next to nothing to create buzz around its long-awaited Google Drive cloud storage service. The latest: Google Drive will launch next week.

Of course, prognosticators have predicted much the same thing numerous times in the past, predictions that turned out to be wrong.

"Frankly, Google has been out to lunch on this," said Frank Gillett, an analyst with Forrester Research. "The real question is: What took you guys so long? And have to got anything original or is this a 'me too' play."

Regardless of whether Google Drive does indeed launch soon, would-be users need to ask themselves a number of questions about their needs before choosing a cloud storage service. Read more...

With no new iPhone, Apple rocks music industry with iCloud

For the first time since 2006, Apple (AAPL) did not show off a new iPhone to open the company’s annual Worldwide Developer’s Conference. Instead, Steve Jobs today officially unveiled Apple’s iCloud music and media storage service as well as new operating software for Macs and mobile devices.

“We're going to move the digital hub, the center of your digital life, into the cloud,” said Jobs. “This is the first time we’ve seen this in the music industry... I buy a song, it goes everywhere.”

While these updates don’t offer any revolutionary improvements, the many enhancements and tweaks will surely be welcomed by Apple fans.

Jobs went on medical leave in January, but made a public appearance in March to announce the iPad 2. He appeared visibly thinner than during his last public presentation three months ago. Read more...
