Merging Facebook With Search, Microsoft Rolls Out “New Bing” To All Of U.S.

Earlier this month, Bing, the other white meat search engine, revealed its big redesign, which put a heavy emphasis on social search. Today, Microsoft announced the new version of Bing.com is now available to all U.S. users. Nothing has changed between then and now, but if you regularly visit Bing.com to perform searches (ha, right?) then you’ll definitely notice a big difference. Microsoft hints that Bing is developing a program for startups and entrepreneurs
According to a LinkedIn update by Rahul Sood, who was up until now a partner at Microsoft’s Xbox team, a new program is being designed for entrepreneurs and startups by Bing.
The exact details of the initiative are not yet confirmed at the moment and it is unclear how and what Bing will do to support the startup community, but it’s noteworthy that Microsoft is no stranger to partnering with small businesses (aka BizSpark). Hackers may try to disrupt World IPv6 Day
Hundreds of popular websites -- including Google, Facebook, Yahoo, and Bing -- are participating in a 24-hour trial of a new Internet standard called IPv6 today, prompting worries that hackers will exploit weaknesses in this emerging technology to launch attacks.

Bing and Facebook grow closer
Microsoft on Monday began letting Bing search results reflect "likes" of people's friends at Facebook as the social networking star and the software colossus grew closer.
"The best decisions are not just fueled by facts, they require the opinions and emotions of your friends," Bing senior vice president Yusuf Mehdi said in a release.
"We're marrying fact-based search results with your friends' street smarts to combine the best data on the Web with the opinions of the people you trust the most and the collective IQ of the Web." Read more...
