CA offers new disaster recovery option

CA Technologies has launched a disaster-recovery software-as-a-service offering that combines on-site data protection with a cloud-based service, using Microsoft Azure's infrastructure.

Called ARCserve D2D on Demand, the offering combines on-site and off-site data backup and recovery.

CA's Infinite Incremental (I2) technology frequently backs up computing functions with minimal impacts to storage, processing power and network bandwidth, CA says in a press release.

Meanwhile, customers buying the product also get 25G of Microsoft Azure cloud-based backup per machine. The service, which CA said is aimed at small and midsize businesses, is priced on a monthly or annual subscription rate.

CA and Microsoft have a history of working together, as CA has been named a Microsoft certified gold partner.
