Amazon’s new Cloud Drive starts controversy, signals licensing trend?

Amazon MP3′s new Cloud Drive music service continues to cause controversy amongst labels unhappy at the way the service was launched.

Amazon’s recently-launched Cloud Drive enables customers to store media files on the internet, and then access them from any computer or Android device. 5GB of storage is provided free, whilst additional storage space is available for a charge. Music purchased from Amazon’s MP3 store can be automatically backed up in Cloud Drive without counting towards a user’s total storage capacity, whilst those who purchase an MP3 album from Amazon by the end of the year are given a free 12 month period of 20GM cloud storage. Internet Explorer 10 preview now available for downloadIt was little less than a month ago that Microsoft finally released Internet Explorer 9, their much anticipated refresh that finally brought robust support for HTML5 and CSS3 to the Windows-standard browser. It took Microsoft two years to make IE9, but they’re looking to half that with Internet Explorer 10… and to prove it, they’ve already released the first developer preview.
